Bowditch - Juneteenth
June 19 is recognized at Bowditch as Juneteenth, commemorating the end of slavery in the United States.
The school is closed on June 19, 2026, in observance of the federal holiday.
Juneteenth marks the day in 1865 when enslaved people in Galveston, Texas were informed of their freedom, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation.
